The thing about the below link is this: it’s not ONLY USBank that uses these less than ethical practices on a daily basis.
I’ve been screwed twice by Bank of America (second time really wasn’t my fault - they bought my bank) in a similar manner.

after reviewing my bank statements a few times, it’s pretty clear US Bank screwed me, too.
yeah, it’s a common practice among the larger banks.. they will literally calculate the amount of money they’d lose by pissing you off into leaving against how much they gain by screwing you by edging along that line we call “the law”.
bastards.
and they wonder why the knights templar got lynched for starting the first bank..
It’s standard bank policy, I think. I’ve been screwed a few times by this but now I just try to make sure I have enough money for everything.
Consider this: Check 21 cleared the legislature saying banks can clear your checks within 1-2 days. You still have to wait up to 10 days for a deposit to clear (depending on the day and time you deposit the check).
Bastards!
the only way to get treated properly by your bank is to get a bank card from the branch manager. on the bottom there should be an 800 number to call. it is distincly different from the 800 number on your atm card. for starters a person will answer instantly. and the person will always say ‘yes I can do that’ when you ask for something. none of this ‘I don’t know how’ or ‘I have to ask my manager’ crap. straight up service the way it is supposed to be.
check 21 can be in seconds depending on the banks involved. and more banks will get to this level of connectivity as they roll out infrastructure to handle check 21.
don’t count on any time buffer
I had a similar problem with US Bank. Technically, I still ‘owe’ them $70-some. They’ll get it when they pry it from my dead fuckin’ fingers.
I have my local bank in Bozeman for my savings and checking. One of the VP’s is my dad’s best friend. I love that bank
They have to give you the first $100 of any deposit immediately no matter what your score is.
Then they have to give you half of the funds in 5 bus days and the remaining by 10 bus days.
Of course they are also supposed to give you the full fuds when they are collected which now should be in 2 bus days max.
I had this problem when depositing lump sum severance packages. I ended up taking them to the orignating bank and cashing them then depositing the cash. Of course that was also when I learned about the $10,000+ paperwork. Ugh.
poor Mike! tears :*( tears:*( !! hehehe! i hate banks 2, but whatcha goin’ 2 do? burn them all to th’ ground? i don’t think so!
I KNEW you were gonna say that!
Why couldn’t we burn them all? Sounds like a good idea to me! Hehehe! I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem with a bank, but then I use the credit union, and I’ve screwed myself, they’ve never screwed me…at least not that I know of!
