What does a US company getting contracts that help rebuild Iraq’s oil productions capabilities have to do with corruption in Bush’s administration?

Who’s getting the contracts? Halliburton.
What company did Cheney head? Halliburton.
That doesn’t seem a little shady to you?

the fact that they’ve gotten the majority of them, the fact that some of them were simply given to them, the fact that the Bush family owns stock (by proxy - they own another company) that owns stock in it, and the fact that the company was once headed by Cheney

here’s my point of view - if there’s nothing to hide, why is the White House response to allegetions of ethics violations, etc. “You’re unpatriotic, back the soldiers.” ?

It’s getting ridiculous.. There’s a lot of fishy things going on in public view, and no one’s able to do a damned thing about it - and there’s a good reason why many people DON’T say a thing.. have you *read* the Patriot act?

I have a friend in NYC who was arrested for simply being of middle eastern descent - under the Patriot act, he couldn’t make a phone call, had no rights, and they threatened to ship him to the bay of pigs if he didn’t shut up and wait.

I’m not a democrat, and I’m far from being a republican - but damn it, the Patriot act violates the constitution that I swore to uphold when I enlisted back in ‘94. Hell, many of the *troops* are complaining, and some of them even went so far as to ask for Rumsfeld to be fired.

The only good points in the White House, now that Ari’s gone, is Ms. Rice and Mr. Powell… and maybe a few aides/interns.

If Bush is so clean and good, why can’t he release *public documents* that he’s having stay at his father’s presidential library? There were some ethical questions about his Governorship over Texas, and the documents were then “re-routed” to the presidential library as a favor from his father - where they can’t be pulled by the FOIA, as they’re stored on technically private property, not government property.

It’s stupid, man.. look all over the web, at reliable (read that as: NOT CNN, NOT MSNBC, NOT FOX and NOT CNBC) news media, and you’ll see a lot of reports that come out that do everything but *scream* Bush is screwing us.

Hell, it’s great that he made tax breaks - but now he’s saying he won’t sign a bill to give pay increases to federal workers because it would “hurt the war on terror”. Federal workers are some of the lowest paid for their fields, on a general basis.

As a Systems Administrator that basically worked 4 hours a day, I was paid more than most upper echelon FBI agents.

Well.. either way.. it’s just another bullet on a long list of fishy things.

tip of the iceberg. This administration is so in bed with the corporations, fascism is too good a word for them. The democrats are spineless, because they’re eating from the same trough.

And they’re playing the mass hordes like a flute. As long as the common man is too stupid to see it’s not a democrat vs. republican thing, but rather a class war is in full effect, and the common man is losing bad.

The Iraq War was fubared before it even began, from the perspective of the common soldier and average american. The reason the administration views it as a “victory” is because it is a victory for them and their corporate cronies.
