BBS users, please note!!!
August 19th, 2003I’ve got the bbs working on a more full-time basis.
aurora-bbs.homedns.org
Just telnet to there (standard telnet port now, 23) and you can even (hopefully) get internet email to and from there.

what about ssh? ![]()
I tell you what.. you find a way to make a shell that will open up a telnet connection to the bbs, and I’ll set up a public “bbs” account for people to ssh as… And don’t forget, for it to be secure there can’t be an escape character, and terminating the telnet application has to log them out.
What bbs software are you running? ![]()
synchronet
it’s running as a service - it binds to the second IP on my box, and handles telnet, rsh, http, news, smtp, and pop3..
(it’s neato!)
any ideas?
Dunno… I’ll have to download it and see what I can come up with. Maybe a VirtualPC drive image or a tarball for Linux with dosemu or wine. ![]()
uh heh
want me to give you an account on monk so you can check out the cvs repository - I have a copy of it in /usr/src I think.
it runs on linux, too.. not just windows/dos. ![]()
rumor has it that it will port nicely to AIX 5.1L ![]()
