ugh. no sleep.

August 15th, 2002

Got into work nearly 40 minutes late today. Not that I can’t make up for it by not taking a lunch. I rediscovered an old crack by the name of Europa Universalis. I’d stayed away from computer games for the past couple of months after a severe bout of Soul Reaver-itis. Conquering the rennaissance age world as just about any nation is fun, what can I say?

Think you’ve seen it all?

Not until you’ve seen the Iroquois invade, vassalize, and later annex the Prussian Empire.

Neat!

That sounds vaguely Civilization-esque…

many many differences, actually..
it’s real-time, for starters
second, you’re not likely to have Abraham Lincoln as the King of France (unless the US switches to Monarchy, and Annexes France.. say.. I should try that.. )

awesome game - and a late bloomer as far as games go.. the sequel is selling like crazy, and it only updates the engine, and expands the years covered by the original. (and some major interface improvements, but I digress..)

great game. check it out if you get a chance. :)

I only said “vaguely Civilization-esque.” ;) But I’ll have to recommend it to Brad. He likes games like that. I’m not really big on computer games as a whole…except maybe Solitaire, since I’m so good at it (that still sounds so sad…). Really, it’s a result of many Wednesday afternoons working for my parents with nothing to do and only that on the computer…they don’t have an internet connection on those computers. Oh well, at least they don’t still require you to type the program you want in a DOS screen. Figuring out the old system (we keep it online for backups of records) is still confusing.
